b. 1990, Barcelona — Anna Ruiz Vega draws the botanical collections of the Barcelona institute in ink and wash. Her Herbario sheets are unique working drawings for the etched plates her collectors know.

b. 1987, Marseille — Élise Marchal paints the limestone coast between Marseille and Cassis. Her finished canvases — large oil views of the calanques — are shown at Galerie Passerelle; the studies on paper here are made on the cliffs, in the hour before the light goes.

b. 1979, Berlin — Tomas Keller builds large gesso-and-charcoal panels around single opposing gestures. The charcoal sheets sold here are the first statements of works that later become two-metre panels.
